The lean events calendar for WordPress
Recurring events, six views and maps. All free.
Eventward is a fast events calendar for WordPress. The features other calendars sell as an add-on are built in, with no upgrade prompts and no locked settings. Everything on this site is running on it.
WordPress 6.7+ · PHP 7.4+ · GPL · Made in New Zealand
01 Free
Recurring events, maps and every view in the free plugin. There is no Pro tier.
02 Fast
Dates live in one indexed table, and nothing loads on pages without events.
03 Found
Google event data for every date: status, venue, organizer and price.
04 Yours
Ordinary WordPress content. Deactivate it and nothing is deleted.
Features
What other calendars charge for, in the free plugin.
Every feature below ships in the one plugin you install. Nothing is held back for a paid version, because there is no paid version.
Free
Recurring events
Daily, weekly, "the second Tuesday", the last Friday, yearly. Skip a date or add an extra one, and see the next dates as you edit.
Free
Six calendar views
Month, week, list, photo, map and day. On a phone the month turns into a tidy agenda on its own.
Free
Maps with no API key
OpenStreetMap maps with clustered pins. Save a venue with an address and its map location is found for you.
Free
Search and filters
Keyword, category, venue and organizer filters that update the calendar without reloading the page.
Free
Ready for Google
Event data for every date, including cancellations, online events, venue, organizer and price.
Free
Add to calendar
Google, Apple, Outlook and Microsoft 365 on every event, plus iCal feeds for the whole calendar or one category.
Free
Blocks and templates
A calendar block, an event details block and ready-made templates for any block theme. Classic themes work too.
Free
Page builder shortcodes
Place the calendar, the event details, a single field or a map in Bricks, Divi or Elementor.
Free
Easy to switch to
Addresses like /events/month/ keep working when you move from The Events Calendar, and an option keeps its tribe_events shortcode working too.
Live demo
This is the real plugin. Click around.
Move between months, switch views and filter by category. The events are made up for this demo; the calendar is exactly what you would install.
How it works
Set up in minutes, not an afternoon.
1. Add an event
Set the date, repeat pattern, venue, organizer and price in the editor sidebar. The next dates preview as you type, and you can skip any of them with one click.
2. Put the calendar where you want it
The events page is ready the moment Eventward is active. Add the calendar block or a shortcode to any other page, and choose which views visitors can switch between.
3. Visitors find it and save it
They switch views, search, check the map and add events to their own calendar. Google reads the date, venue and price of every event.
Built lean
Fast because of what it leaves out.
Event calendars have a reputation for slowing sites down. Eventward is built the other way round.
Other pages
Nothing loads where it is not used
Styles and scripts load only where a calendar or event is shown. Your home page and blog carry none of it.
Database
One small indexed table
Every event date sits in a table built for date lookups, so a busy month stays quick at thousands of events.
Front end
Plain HTML, no jQuery
The calendar is server-rendered HTML with one small script that swaps views in place. It works with scripts turned off.
Search engines
No endless calendar for bots
Dated pages are noindex, calendar links are nofollow and empty far-future months return a 404, so crawlers cannot run up your server load.
Maps
Loaded only when seen
The map library ships inside the plugin and tiles are only fetched when a map scrolls into view.
Privacy
The plugin adds no tracking
Eventward loads nothing from CDNs and reports nothing about your visitors. Its only outside requests are OpenStreetMap map tiles and address lookups, and Stripe when you sell paid tickets. All disclosed, all optional.

Page builders
Made for Bricks, Divi and the block editor.
Everything the blocks can do is also a shortcode, so it drops into a builder module or a theme template. Each event also keeps its next date in a field that builder query loops can sort by.

Reviews
What people say about Eventward.
From the reviews on WordPress.org, in the reviewers' own words.
★★★★★
As someone who doesn’t code, I use the block editor and FSE. This recent plugin is fantastic: modern, block-based, and feature-rich. The developer provides excellent support: both bug fixes and functional enhancements are released quite quickly. Highly recommended!

Thank you for this truly great plugin. I was absolutely thrilled during my tests. … The wide range of features, combined with well-designed user guidance, is also impressive.

I installed the plugin this morning and I’m really impressed. It’s easy to customise and stays clear. It isn’t overloaded, and it’s still powerful. … You’ve done a truly outstanding job with this plugin!

Questions
What people ask before switching.
Is Eventward really free?
Yes. Every feature on this page is in the free plugin. There is no Pro version, no locked settings and no upgrade prompts in your dashboard.
When can I install it?
Now. In your WordPress admin go to Plugins, Add New, search for Eventward and install it, or download it from WordPress.org. Updates arrive through WordPress like any other plugin.
Will it slow my site down?
No. Its styles and scripts only load where a calendar or event is shown, event dates are stored in one indexed table, and the calendar is plain HTML that works without JavaScript.
Can I move from The Events Calendar?
Eventward uses the same web addresses, such as /events/ and /event/your-event/, and a setting keeps the tribe_events shortcode working, so existing links and pages keep working. A one-click importer for events, venues, organizers and repeating events is planned.
Does it work with my theme and page builder?
Yes. Block themes get ready-made templates, classic themes get the same calendar, and every part of it is available as a shortcode for Bricks, Divi, Elementor and other builders.
What about RSVPs and tickets?
Both are built in. Free tickets work as an RSVP, and paid tickets go through Stripe Checkout on your own Stripe account, with no fee from us. You get capacity per date, confirmation emails with ticket codes, an attendee list with check-in, CSV export and refunds.
See it for yourself
Want to see it on your own site?
We will walk you through Eventward on a copy of your site, including how your current events would move across. It takes about twenty minutes.
